India offers significant investment and business opportunities to companies engaged in the oil and gas value chain, minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr. R.P.N. Singh said at an ASSOCHAM event held here in New Delhi today.
“To increase its energy supply and augment the enabling infrastructure, India would require huge investments worth several billion dollars across various segments of its hydrocarbon value chain which offers huge investment and business opportunities for companies operating in this sector,” said Mr Singh while inaugurating the 15th Energy Summit on Indian Oil & Gas Sector organised by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
Talking about the need for increasing the weight of natural gas in the country’s primary energy basket the minister said, “Natural gas is not only cleaner for the environment but it must also be promoted to diversify our energy/fuel sources for strengthening the country’s energy security thus lots of activity on both policy and investment fronts are foreseen in this regard.”
