The Tanzanian oil and gas contract exploration review, as reported earlier to have been ordered by Tanzania's Energy Minister, some major holders of these licenses in Tanzania including the UK's BG Group and Norways Statoil believe they are very much compliant with licensing laws in the country and have pretty good relationship with the authority.

The energy minister was quoted to have said, he charged the newly constituted members of the state owned Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) to review all existing license, saying some of the agreements were shoddy and no new exploration deals will be reached until the review has been completed.

Uk's BG Group is said to have made series of gas finds offshore of Tanzania with reserves seen at a total of 14 Tcf, while stating that its production sharing contracts are in line with the Tanzanian Governments legislation, the junior partner of the group, Ophir Energy also stated that it is fully compliant from an operational and regulatory perspective in all of its Tanzanian licenses, we have a strong working relationship with the government built over several years said one of the company's spokesman.

However the energy minister has said the country's existing licenses had to be reviewed because they may not be in the interest of the country, while charging the board of directors of the state-owned  Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) to review the licenses as a matter of urgency and the reports should be submitted by end of November.
