About 26 people are reported to have been killed and 27 injured after an explosion that occurred on Tuesday morning at Pemex gas plant in Tamaulipas a state in Mexico.
An investigation in the cause of the explosion is still underway, it occurred at the facility, located near thecity of Reynosa which is across the U.S/Mexico border from McAllen, Texas.
The damage to the plant has not been ascertained at this time, but approximately 700 people were reported to have been working on the facility at the time of the blast, 4 of the dead victims were believed to be plant employees while the other 22 were contractors.
The accident has been labeled one of the deadliest in oil & gas industry in recent time, since the offshore incident which killed 22 workers in 2007, this incident is referred to as the worst for Pemex.
