Ghana's current power crisis is bound to extend till early next year, a source has it that due to disruption of gas supply from the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) to Ghana, it may persist till January 2013.
Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei, the country's Energy Minister is said to have announced in September that the nation was on a daily basis losing 300 megawatts of energy generation due to the said gas supply disruption, while assuring that the situation will return to normalcy by the of this month.
However the Director of operations for the Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr. Tetteh Okine had a contrary view, stating that the power supply in the country will only be stabilized when the damaged pipeline has been repaired, he noted that the West African Gas Pipeline Company will finish the work by December, meaning the load shedding will continue till that time.
