The energy Minister for Tanzania has ordered the review of all existing oil and gas exploration agreements in the country, this should be carried out on or before 30th of November, as there are rising concerns that some of the agreements needed to be revoked.
Mr. Sospeter Muhongo, who is the said energy and minerals minister was reported to have told newly appointed Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) board members that all the 26 ongoing contracts need to be reviewed before before any agreement would be signed, where he noted that some of the agreements were shoddy and needed to be revoked.
Visit project sites instead of waiting for reports, he told them, while challenging the nine board members to start reviews straight away, while also adding that he was prepared to take legal actions against any corrupt official found wanting in the signing of agreements that were not for the benefit of the country.
