The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, announced yesterday that the former Minister for Interior, Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho (rtd) had been apprehended and arrested in Lagos yesterday in connection with the seizure of a suspected stolen petroleum products, vessel/M.T. Grace' laden.
He said the manhunt for the brains behind the pirates had been traced to the stolen product purchased by integrated oil and gas tank farm owned by the Former Minister, according to the NIMASA boss who was represented the Agency's executive Director in charge of Maritime Labour Services and Cabotage Barrister Obi Nwabueze.
However stating that the premises of the Iheanacho's company has been under lock and key, he recalled that some pirates had been earlier paraded and the financiers were been searched for, it was then they came to realize they were backed by kingpins and big men who facilitated the piracy.
