Nigeria's Major offshore drilling firm, Seawolf Oil Services Ltd, signed a deal with Exxon Mobil Corp. to provide one of its three rigs , JU Oritsetimeyin rig to Exxon for a period of two years, the deal is worth N22 billion which commences by third quarter of 2013.
Earlier used for Total Exploration, the 300ft independent cantilever jack-up rig, the JU Oritsetimeyin, drilled about 6 wells for the company, after a refit, the rig will start work at ExxonMobil.
Assigned to Addax Petroleum, Conoil and the Nigerian unit of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. are the company's other rig, Seawolf Onome and Delta Queen units.
Stating that the signing of the deal is a significant restatement of ExxonMobil's high level support of the Nigerian government's policy, the company said, enhancing indigenous content in the Nigerian oil and gas business, signifies Exxon's continuing commitment to support indigenous companies with demonstrable capacity to operate and endure high specification, capital intensive and operationally challenging sectors of the offshore oil business, further adding that Seawolf Oilfields had come a long way since its inception, signing with ExxonMobil is a testament showing how far indigenous players have come in the ownership and operation of offshore oilfield assets, while also earning the support, trust and confidence of the world's most substantial oil and gas companies.
