The (KOC) Kuwait Oil Company's Deputy Managing Director, Hassania Hashem explained on Monday that the oil production of the northern region would reach one million barrels a day by 2017, after some major projects have been completed.
Stating that the current production of the northern region now stands at about 700,000 barrels per day, noting that work began on increasing production of northern region and started in multiple projects to increase production, the water pumping project is in its second phase, which is scheduled to open come August 2013, and will also be accompanied by opening of Centre for gas gathering center project.
Adding that the project which deals with the water pumping will inject about 500,000 barrels of water per day and production of the northern region within a year of its opening is expected to increase to 800,000 barrels of oil per day, she however alluded to the existence of similar projects the company is working on, in order to bring production to one million barrels of oil per day by 2017.
